Coalition of the Divided
2012 Election Edition

The Dividist started this exclusive club during the 2008 election cycle, simultaneously initiating the "Coalition of the Divided Blogroll", which the Reader should be able to find in the right or left sidebar somewhere <===>

We barely got the 2010 edition posted in time for the midterms among much angst and gnashing of teeth. To avoid that last minute panic during this election cycle, we are getting an early start on the 2012 membership drive. Membership is open to anyone writing anything in a vaguely positive way on the subject of divided government. New recruits will be added to the ranks from now until the 2012 election.

Fair warning: Inclusion on this list will make it easy to identify the backsliders and the disingenuous. You know, backsliders like this guy. To be fair (or not) we expect Sully back on the COD membership roll this cycle. Since the most likely scenario is that the Divided Government vote in 2012 will be a vote to re-elect Barack Obama, we expect to see many 2006ish Born Again Dividists like Andrew Sullivan who only prefer Divided Government when there is a risk of One Party Republican Rule. No matter. The Dividist will be watching. The Dividist will point out the inconsistent and insincere. But the Dividist will also welcome hypocritical partisan pretenders to the ranks.

You too can join this glorious movement and march in solidarity with the many millions thousands hundreds tens of your brothers and sisters standing shoulder to shoulder in the Coalition of the Divided! Just write anything vaguely favorable to Divided Government and/or Gridlock, then let the Dividist know where to find it in the comments or via e-mail. The Dividist will add it to this post, link you, blogroll you, favorite you, digg you, friend you, follow you, tweet you, paint your house and walk your dog.

This is a living list. New recruits and draftees will be updated to this post and in the blogroll periodically between now and election day. Stay Divided.

Coalition of the Divided - 2010 Edition

I started this list during the 2008 election cycle, initiated a "Coalition of the Divided Blogroll" in the sidebar, and expressed my good intentions of keeping a running list of COD members for future election cycles. Well, with the road to hell being paved as it is, I never quite got around to it for the 2010 midterms - until now.

This is being thrown together at the last minute, and with the expanded interest this cycle I know I am missing many links and coalition comrades. Better late than never. The blogroll is over there in the right sidebar ====>

The Dividist promises to add any overlooked Coalition of the Divided members to the blogroll and to this post. Membership is open to anyone writing in a vaguely positive way on the subject of divided government. Fair warning, inclusion on this list will make it easy to identify the backsliders and the disingenuous. You know, backsliders like this guy. The Dividist will be watching.

The 2012 Presidential Election season kicks off on Wednesday, and we will begin the 2012 COD blogroll shortly thereafter. Really.

Interested? You too can join this glorious movement and march in solidarity with the many millions thousands hundreds tens of your brothers and sisters standing shoulder to shoulder in the Coalition of the Divided! Just write anything linkable vaguely favorable to Divided Government and let me know where to find it in the comments or via e-mail. I will add it to this list, link you, blogroll you, favorite you, digg you, friend you, tweet you, paint your house and walk your dog.

The Coalition of the Divided

UPDATED: 20-Sep-08
In my last post, I promised to initiate a "Coalition of the Divided Blogroll" in the sidebar:
"DWSUWF will link to any bloggers and pundits that declare for a Divided Government vote. Who is in this coalition, standing shoulder to shoulder in solidarity? Limited government advocates, Fiscal conservatives from both parties, Libertarians (big "L") who want their vote to count, libertarians (small "l") desiring a bigger political hammer, Disaffected Democrats and Hillary supporters who will support Democratic Senators and Representatives but voting for McCain, Independents leary of too much concentrated power in one party, and disingenuous Republicans paying lip service to divided government because it is politically convenient in 2008 (much like disingenuous Democrats did in 2006). All are welcome in The Coalition of the Divided."
Done deal. The blogroll is over there on the right ====>

In order to get this list of fine thinkers out into the feeds, I am also posting it here. This is a first cut, the charter members of the 2008 Coalition of the Divided, with membership open to anyone writing in a vaguely positive way on the subject of divided government since the 2006 midterms. I expect to be adding to the coalition on a daily basis between now and the election. Time and inclination permitting, I will also go back in time and rebuild the 2006 Coalition of the Divided blogroll. That will be particularly interesting because it will permit us to identify the backsliders and the disingenuous. Like this guy.

Interested? You too can join this glorious movement and march in solidarity with the many millions thousands hundreds tens of your brothers and sisters standing shoulder to shoulder in the Coalition of the Divided! Just write a post or linkable comment supporting Divided Government and let me know where to find it. I will link you, blogroll you, favorite you, digg you, paint your house and walk your dog.

Also, feel free to rip any of my graphics to promote the concept. Reason did! So did John Feheery! Join today!

EDITORS NOTE: I have been missing in action for most of the last week because I have been having too much fun blogging over at Donklephant, antagonizing partisans and stirring up the Palintology debate. There I compiled elements of the 2008 divided government rationale into a cross-post with the same title as this post, but completely different content. Don't ask me why. It just turned out that way. Hoping to stimulate some debate, I got exactly what I asked for in the comments. Some pretty interesting stuff, and fodder for a future post. Stay tuned.

UPDATED: 20-September-2008
The recent George Will column amped up the Divided Gvoernment debate, and expanded the rolls of the C.O.D. An updated list was called for. If I missed anyone, leave a comment and I will add you in due course.
